JAKARTA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The total population numbers of Indonesia are expected to increase nearly a quarter in 2045.

Indonesian Minister for National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro said on Wednesday that the country's population has been estimated to grow about 24.42 percent to 321 million people in 2045.

Brodjonegoro said that 65.26 percent or 209.5 million people are classified as productive generation with age between 15 to 64 years old.

The number of younger generation with age below 15 years old reaches 48.054 percent to 66.8 million people, Brodjonegoro said.

The ageing population would be at 62.85 million people with urban population accounting for 67.85 percent of the total population, he said.

Fertility rate is estimated at 2.1 percent per family in 2045 with life expectancy at 72.8 years old, he added.

However, infant mortality rate is forecast at 3 percent, Brodjonegoo added.

Currently Indonesian population is 158 million people.
